1st January 2025 marks not just the first day of the New Year, but also the unofficial 10th anniversary of Things I Have Drawn. Exactly a decade ago today, I shared the portrait of me, drawn by Dom, as two separate posts on my @iamtomcurtis Twitter handle (as it was then), and in doing so, set the internet on fire. Err - actually, the only person to comment was my brother, Russell, who said simply, “I think you may have set the bar too high for your first tweet of the year.”

Well, I clearly knew I was onto something because later that year, I launched our Things I Have Drawn Instagram account and only 12 months after that, in October 2026, it was that very first portrait I created that went to the top of Reddit and triggered the first moment in which our pictures went truly viral.

Now, as we slowly approach a million Insta followers, it’s clear that there’s still a huge audience out there for us. Just this past week a video montage of our magic binoculars Reels has been viewed over 30 million times on a random little art-sharing site. But that’s a story for another day.
